4 Quotes About Life To Improve Your Week

And why I want to fight everyone who's ever written a "Best Sports Movies of All Time" list.

Quotes seem to be a polarizing topic. You either embrace the knowledge of others in soundbite form or you think that quotes of any kind fall into the category of “Woo-Woo” information. You know, the kinds you used to make your Facebook status back in 2009.

I’m not here to tell you which one of those is correct. Only to supply you with a few of my favourite quotes about life this week.

I used to collect quotes in the most offensive looking Google Sheet of all time!

All that to say, I love leveraging the wise words of other people to nudge my life in the positive direction. Here’s some Monday morning wisdom:

This quote was impactful in me upending my life in 2017 to take an 8 month trip through Thailand. Change is both scary and powerful, most people are too attached to the imaginary persona that lives in their mind.

Nothing makes me angrier than people with an unholy sense of entitlement. The world was here long before you and it will be here long after you’re gone. If you need any further proof of this, check out the Pale Blue Dot. The lesson is be humble and do things without expectation of return.

If you’ve ever seen the movie Coach Carter you’re familiar with this quote. One of the most powerful sports movies ever made teaches young men about discipline, responsibility, role models and goals. All tied up with an unhappy ending. The movie isn't about the game, it's about the boys' lives. They don't need to win at basketball to succeed at transforming their lives.

The investing GOAT 🐐 sheds a little light on his success with Warren Buffet. You can get remarkably far in life by not taking downside risk. Everyone wants the hacks, secrets or the forbidden knowledge to jump ahead 5 steps. Those usually come with a large amount of risk that Munger argues and I agree should be avoided whenever possible.
